Chalet Griffonner is located in the exclusive Encoches neighborhood of Morzine, enjoying commanding views over the resort whilst only being a short stroll from the centre of the town. The chalet has a southerly aspect meaning that it is flooded with natural light which can be enjoyed both inside, and from various balconies and terraces that surround the chalet.
The chalet itself is a unique, one-off design, with luxurious features throughout. The standout is the main living space with its exposed timber frame and open plan layout. The glazing has been cleverly designed here, our favourite feature being the dual aspect window set in the south corner. This provides an expansive view which tracks from the Ressachaux, past the Pointe de Nyon, then Pleney and over to the Roc d’Enfer. The living space itself is a fantastic place to unwind with your group, there’s plenty of space but equally each zone flows and the layout ‘just works’. The chalet will also work really well for groups self-catering – the kitchen is really well specified and again, spacious, so this is a great property for any passionate cooks. The counter seating also makes it a social setting where you can enjoy drinks and discuss the antics of the day whilst preparing dinner.
In total there are 4 bedrooms spread across 3 separate levels. This means as a group you can spread out and everyone has their own space. We really like this in a property… it makes the chalet feel spacious and means you’re never on top of each other. The showpiece bedroom is obviously the master suite which occupies the entire top floor of the property. This knock out space has its own lounge as well as a large en-suite and of course, more incredible views. Another favourite though is room 2, on the second floor. We love the feel of this room… big enough to feel spacious… small enough to feel comforting. Again there’s an incredible en suite and a private balcony. Whilst the master is the obvious star, anyone staying in here won’t feel left out either – in fact they’re all great rooms.
The chalet also boasts an impressive wellness suite. There’s a dedicated treatment area where you could enjoy a massage from one of our Bamford therapists, as well as a sauna and relaxation area. Outside on the terrace a large hot tub is sunken into the mountainside – a beautifully private spot to unwind without feeling at all overlooked.
When the sun sets and it’s time to relax you have a dedicated cinema room as well as a separate snug. The cinema is a great spot to unwind later in the evening, or for older kids to hide away into their own private zone. The snug provides a versatile space which can afford someone privacy for reading or if you have to, catching up on some work calls.
If you’re visiting in the summer months the chalet has considerably more outside space than first meets the eye. Whilst there is no garden as such, there is an extensive amount of terracing and balconies, which in practise are ideal for al fresco dining throughout the day.
The chalet will suit both families and groups of friends who value a premium amount of space for a modest size group. For just 8 people, this is one of the largest properties you could choose to stay in, and that indulgence, combined with the facilities and overall specification, is key to the luxury offered at Chalet Griffonner.
HIGHLIGHTS
The main highlight of Chalet Griffonner is the space. Whilst the chalet only has four bedrooms, this is a large property with expansive living areas and facilities. The main living room is double height, opening up to the exposed timber frame and flanked by glass walls. The lightness and airyness of this space optimises what this property is all about – the luxury of space.

The chalet sits in a commanding position and it’s one-off design makes the most of the views on offer. The glazing is all bespoke – our favourite feature being the dual aspect ‘corner glazing’ on the south side of the living room. This drinks in the views over the resort and across the mountain range. Whether you’re inside, or on one of the many outside balconies and terraces, the views here are mesmerising. You’d be forgiven for forgoing the skiing and just resting up here all day to drink them all in.

There are luxury facilities throughout that tick all the key boxes – a beautifully integrated hot tub, sauna, wellness space and treatment room, separate cinema and high specification kitchen to name just a few. The chalet is well thought out and considered throughout and is the perfect place to spend time with family or friends.

The prime location is just a short walk from the centre of town. You can see the Super Morzine ski lift pass nearby and it’s easily accessed on foot if you choose to leave your equipment at a local shop in town. The proximity to the centre of the resort also means all the bars and restaurants are easily accessed. This is fantastic in the evening of course, but is also ideal if some of the group aren’t skiing and simply want to browse the shops and relax in one of the artisan coffee bars.
