So, you arrived in the bustling mountain resort of Tignes 2100 late last night and now it’s time to wake up, get up, and get started. There are bright blue skies, the sun is up and there are hundreds of pistes to be enjoyed. At BC we always start the day with our famous Breakfast Club menu including daily specials created by Head Chef Nick Lyon Dean. They are the perfect way to start your day.
Ready to hit the slopes? With your in-chalet boot and ski fitting taken care of last night you are all ready to conquer the Espace Killy. Your Espace Killy Ski Pass covers an extensive area of ski slopes surrounding both Tignes and Val D’Isere which is perfect for today. Start by heading up the Toviere lift and take in your playground. Take a moment to survey the pistes whilst ascending to the top. The skiing options are almost infinite, from beginner pistes for a gentle start, to double black diamonds for adrenaline hunters – this ski area has it all. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, and you’ve been blessed with a fresh covering of snow, make the most of the incredible off-piste. We recommend you ski off-piste with a guide. They will take you to the very best places, for safe extreme skiing, and your BC Concierge can organise it all for you. If you want to warm up, gradually start on some of the gentler pistes to get your ski legs back. Mid morning stop for coffee at the french cafe at the top of the Toviere lift. It’s perfect for a little energy boost and you can catch up with the rest of your group before getting back on the slopes.
But where next? Do you fancy Tignes or prefer Val d’Isere? Where’s next on your list? After a morning skiing what could be more enjoyable than a long lunch, some lovely wine and a chance to sit in the mountain sun? Why not take the funiculaire from Tignes Val Claret, all the way to the top. You will emerge to some of the most stunning views of the Tarentaise Valley and the Tignes Glacier, the alps unfolding before you, for miles and miles and miles. It’s truly breathtaking. We suggest having lunch on the Terrace at the Funiculaire Restaurant. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch, some fine wines and those spectacular views. Let your BC CONCIERGE book a table for you in advance – let’s make sure you get the best table!
After lunch it’s time to put those skis back on (even if this is done at a slightly slower pace after you’ve added some fine wine and a filling lunch into the equation!). Head towards Val D’Isere using the signs and extensive piste maps to guide you on your way. Alternatively follow your guide! Le Fornet ski area will provide you with long leisurely blue pistes and incredible views so you can enjoy the mountain at a more relaxed pace. Late afternoon, after an active first days skiing, legs are tired, cheeks are pink and the mood is high so it’s time to enjoy an apres drink at L’Escale Blanche, a restaurant/bar in the centre of Tignes Le Lac. With a large sun terrace, a central location and an excellent drink selection it offers a brilliant apres atmosphere to finish your ski day.
