THE ORIGINS OF THE CONCIERGE
The word concierge is still synonymous with the world of luxury hotels, exclusive locations and decadent requests being met at any costs. But the role of the concierge was not originally from the domain of the luxury hotel.
The word itself is actually French and means ‘keeper of the keys’. During the Middle Ages, concierges did just that. When castles across Europe hosted visiting nobility, the concierge kept the keys to the castle rooms and ensured the guests had everything they needed during their stay.
By the 1800s, a number of buildings in Europe had their own concierge on staff, such as government offices, and even prisons, such as the famous prison in Paris called The Conciergerie whose warden kept the keys and assigned cells to all the inmates, including Marie Antoinette!
In essence, the role of the Concierge has always been to provide access although in more recent times, the Concierge has become the ‘go-to’ person who has the connections, tenacity, calmness to execute any request .
And that is where it begins to align with The Boutique Concierge Service.
AT YOUR SERVICE
The Boutique Concierge is only interested in you. From the moment you book your holiday with The Boutique Chalet Company, the Concierge is at your disposal.
Your Concierge will help arrange your full holiday itinerary, including pre-booking of lift passes, airport transfers, ski instruction and other in-resort activities.
But the service goes far beyond the standard organisation of ski lessons and transfers. From your first enquiry with the sales team, to touching down back in the UK, we want to be part of your experience.
The Concierge wants to create experiences, a memory, and a lifestyle – all tailored to suit you.
From organising a pre-arrival phone call from your private chef; to ensuring your Chalet Manager pairs exquisite local french wines to compliment your dinner; or your chalet host has the hot tub hot ready and the sauna roaring ready for your return post-piste. The Concierge wants to be one step ahead, throughout your Boutique stay.
Our Concierge service has organised 36-hour ski breaks for time-poor city clients, to heli-experiences and off-piste adventures. There have been secret mountain picnics, surprise birthdays, spa days, afternoons spent snowshoeing then eating a raclette at two thousand meters at a secret locals restaurants; or special ski days with hand-picked private instructors (some of whom skied at the Winter Olympics!).
Our Concierge team will take care of everything for you. Your personal Boutique Experience. One in a lifetime. Every, single, time.
